Maurice Lacroix AIKON Automatic WOTTO Limited Edition
Maurice Lacroix presents the incredible AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition! Limited to 1,000 pieces, this masterpiece doesn't just disrupt the established codes, it completely blows them away. Featuring the ultimate fusion of urban culture, artistic engraving, and Swiss watchmaking, this mesmerizing design celebrates its entry into the Urban Tribe series.
The modern fairytale began in 2021 when Hungarian artist @Timeengraver engraved an AIKON and posted the result on Instagram. The freelance artist's creation set in motion a whole chain of events. Maurice Lacroix, with the designer's consent, was inspired to launch the highly sought-after, limited-edition AIKON Automatic Urban Tribe and AIKON Automatic Skeleton Urban Tribe models. Two years later, the artist unveiled a new work that surpassed himself: this time, an illustration featuring drawings by British artist Wotto, a key figure in the street art scene.
Today, the circle closes with the AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition, a watch that fuses Swiss watchmaking with Wotto's boundlessly creative universe. This is the power of urban culture: it creates a constantly evolving artistic dialogue where inspirations intersect and react with each other. With this collaborative project, Maurice Lacroix explores the boundaries between watchmaking and art more than ever.
Need we even introduce Wotto, or Craig Watkins as he's known by his real name? The Brit lives in California and has become a key figure in urban art thanks to his inimitable doodling style, which blends cute and comical characters with chaos and emotion. His works are characterized by his unmistakable style and are a true feast of color and original characters that draw the viewer into a whirl of seemingly mysterious stories.
This new AIKON is far more than just an engraved watch. It is a true work of art for the wrist, embracing all the elements of Wotto's work. The case, bracelet, and bezel of the 42 mm watch are made of stainless steel and are entirely engraved with motifs from his imaginative world. Mushrooms, hearts, skateboarding ghosts, and lightning bolts surround the artist's signature capital W, following one another in hieroglyphics across the links of the AIKON's elegant integrated bracelet and continuing onto the case and bezel. Like a picture puzzle, each link tells its own story. The ideograms are highlighted by the contrast between the luster of the polished surface and the engraved ornamentation, lending the watch a fascinating visual depth.
And then, of course, there's the true star of the show: the dial. For the first time in the Urban Tribe series, Wotto was given complete freedom to create his very own graphic universe. Using a simple gray background as his canvas, the artist brought to life a series of fun, mischievous characters in a gradient from yellow to blue. Located at the center of the monochrome timepiece, this colorful design is a real eye-catcher. To avoid detracting from this effect, the indices were kept discreet and consist of simple metal tips.
Beneath this intricate swirl lies the ML115 automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve. The case, which is water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters, features an anti-reflective sapphire crystal caseback, revealing the mechanics within—another work of art of a different kind.
The AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition embodies the perfect combination of striking design and watchmaking expertise. True to the Maurice Lacroix philosophy, it offers outstanding quality and finishes of a remarkable level while remaining within an affordable price range. With its captivating aesthetics and artistic DNA, this model is sure to inspire wonder and admiration along the way.
